Southampton fans blast club for ticket prices v West Ham United

Southampton fans have had a lot to complain about this season due to the performances on the pitch.

As it stands, the coastal club are in the relegation zone, one point adrift of Premier League safety.

Manager Mauricio Pellegrino has taken the brunt of criticism from the supporters, who have criticised the Argentine’s formations, in particular.

The only shining light has been the team’s FA Cup form as they find themselves in the quarter-finals of the competition following last weekend’s 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

This Saturday, attention turns back to the league, and Southampton will try to get back to winning ways with an away trip to Burnley.

In three games’ time, the Saints will take on West Ham United at the London Stadium, and on Twitter, the club have posted details about ticket prices.

It has been revealed on Southampton’s official website that for the travelling fans, adults will have to pay £30, while Over-65s and Under-21s will be charged £25.

Fans reacted to the news on Twitter, and the overwhelming feeling is not positive.

HYS: Who is the perfect Pardew replacement?

All is not well at the Hawthorns and manager Alan Pardew is looking like the most likely candidate to bear the blame for the team’s failures this season.

A limp display against Huddersfield on Saturday saw West Brom remain seven points adrift from safety as they fell to a 2-1 defeat, and tensions reportedly flared in the dressing room after game – with Chris Brunt criticising Pardew’s 4-4-2 formation in the face of a five-man Huddersfield midfield and accusing his teammates of a lack of effort and desire.

It has been a horrendous few weeks for the club, highlighted most clearly by several of their players being accused of taxi theft during a mid-season training camp in Barcelona.

Former-manager and now Middlesborough boss Tony Pulis has backed the under-fire Pardew to ‘cope with anything that’s thrown at him’, but time is clearly running out for a manager who has been unable to arrest his team’s slide to the foot of the Premier League table.

With Pardew looking likely to be axed in the next few months, who will replace him?

Garry Monk is a name worth talking about, having guided Swansea to safety on numerous occasions.

Slaven Bilic should be in the conversation as well, having accomplished similar goals with West Ham between 2015 and 2017.

Southampton fans want to see Gabbiadini start with Carrillo next week

Southampton climbed out of the English Premier League relegation zone on Saturday, rescuing a point away to Burnley at Turf Moor.

With Sean Dyche’s side leading the encounter heading into the final moments of the game, substitute Manolo Gabbiadini combined with new signing Guido Carrillo to net a huge equaliser that could be pivotal in keeping Saints from dropping down to the second-tier.

Fans are now calling on Mauricio Pellegrino to start playing the duo together in an effort to be more pro-active in securing the results that could save them from relegation.

[ad_pod ]

So far this season Pellegrino has almost exclusively utilised a single striker, frustrating supporters who are looking for dynamism in the final third and most importantly, more goals hitting the back of the net.

Whether it’s as part of their current 4-2-3-1 or a more traditional 4-4-2, fans are eager to see the two expensive signings pair up and strike up an attacking partnership.

Everton centre-back Tyias Browning suffers season-ending groin injury

Everton defender Tyias Browning suffered a groin injury while playing for loan side Sunderland against Aston Villa on Tuesday night, which it has now been confirmed will sideline him for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old had been a key player at the back for the Mackems after making 29 appearances in all competitions for the Championship strugglers following his temporary move to the Stadium of Light last summer, but his campaign has now been brought to a premature end.

The centre-back pulled up just before the half-hour mark against the Villans, and when it was clear that he wasn’t able to continue he was replaced by Billy Jones at the back.

It has left Black Cats boss Chris Coleman with something of a central defensive crisis ahead of their match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, with Lamine Kone potentially the only player that will be available with Jake Clarke-Salter suspended, Paddy McNair definitely out through injury and John O’Shea a doubt.

Browing has made nine first-team outings for Everton since his debut as a substitute in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool in September 2014, but he hasn’t appeared for them since the 2015/16 campaign with loan spells with Championship clubs Preston North End and then Sunderland following since then, with Toffees fans hoping he would improve during his time on Wearside.

Aston Villa fans reveal their love for Hourihane

Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane represented Republic of Ireland for the fifth time on Friday night as he played 68 minutes of his nation’s 1-0 defeat to Turkey.

The 27-year-old had to wait until March 2017 to make his first appearance for Republic of Ireland, but he is now very much in the plans of head coach Martin O’Neill.

Hourihane joined Villa from Barnsley in January 2017, and the midfielder scored just once in 17 Championship appearances in the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Irishman has been brilliant for Villa this season, however, managing nine goals and two assists in 35 league matches to help fire Steve Bruce’s side up the table.

There is no question that Hourihane, who is valued at £3.6m by transfermarkt.co.uk, is key to Villa’s hopes of securing a return to the Premier League this season.

Following another international appearance, the Villa supporters took to social media to reveal their love for the midfielder, and a selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:

Newcastle fans are absolutely loving Pardew’s downfall

Newcastle fans are having the time of their lives this Easter, as Alan Pardew became the latest Premier League manager to lose his job.

Things probably didn’t feel like they could get any better for Newcastle fans last summer, as they got promoted as champions while arch-rivals Sunderland went down the other way.

After a difficult season, things are now looking even better for the Magpies though, as back to back wins against relegation rivals has moved Rafa Benitez’s side into 12th, seven points clear of the bottom three.

As if escaping relegation trouble and beating Manchester United in the space of a month wasn’t enough to lift spirits on Tyneside, West Brom have today announced that Alan Pardew is leaving the club by mutual consent.

[ad_pod ]

This may seem relatively insignificant to fans outside of Newcastle, but the Toon Army are celebrating the news like they’ve just beaten another relegation rival.

Pardew managed the Magpies from 2010 to 2014, and earned plenty of animosity from fans for his awful management and multiple conflicts and controversies.

West Brom are currently bottom of the league, ten points adrift of safety, and Newcastle fans are absolutely loving Pardew’s downfall.

Manchester City taken apart by rival fans over celebratory video

Manchester City’s media team, as well as the companies associated with the club, would have created plenty of content ready for the day when the team were crowned Premier League champions.

That day was Sunday, and Pep Guardiola’s side secured the title without even kicking a ball thanks to their neighbours Manchester United.

After overcoming Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Wembley at the start of the weekend, City knew that defeat for United against West Bromwich Albion would hand them the English crown.

Nobody would have expected bottom-of-the-table Baggies to get anything out of the contest, but they proved the doubters wrong by earning a 1-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s side.

As a result, City took an unassailable 16-point lead with five games left to play, and celebrations ensued.

One particular tribute video to the club’s success has taken centre-stage, but for all the wrong reasons.

Club sponsor Etisalat UAE, which is a telecommunications operator based in the Middle East, posted a video on Twitter to congratulate the team.

The likes of Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan drew on their acting chops for the clip, which featured a bizarre chant throughout.

A few days ago, City were being mocked for falling at the quarter-final hurdle in the Champions League, and now they are being ripped apart for another reason.

Liverpool fans react to incredible stat about Firmino

When Philippe Coutinho was at Liverpool, his fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino went under the radar. The two played in completely different positions, but Coutinho’s creativity in midfield stole most of the headlines.Since the 25-year-old left the Merseyside outfit to join Barcelona in January, Mohamed Salah has taken the role of the Reds’ ‘best player’, but Firmino has also begun receiving plenty of plaudits. The 26-year-old has established himself as the ideal number 9 in Jurgen Klopp’s team having scored 24 goals in all competitions and creating 11 assists this season.[ad_pod ]Firmino possesses attacking flair, but he also drops back to nick the ball off his opponents, which adds another dimension to his game. The Brazilian has previously been overlooked, but his ability and work-rate has certainly not gone unnoticed this season. In fact,ÂSquawka has revealed on TwitterÂa statistic that shows just how much quality Firmino has in his position.

The fact that the former Hoffenheim attacker is the only player in the Premier League to rack up 62 tackles as well as 53 chances proves that he is invaluable to Klopp’s team.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans have been very impressed with this latest statistic.

Arsenal in driving seat for Sokratis

According to Bild, Arsenal are at the head of the queue for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who is expected to leave his German club this summer.

What’s the story?

It is not yet clear who will replace Arsene Wenger as head coach of Arsenal at the end of the season, but the incoming manager will surely be in the market for at least one new centre-back in this summer’s transfer window.

Neither Laurent Koscielny nor Shkodran Mustafi covered themselves in glory against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League on Thursday night, and it is absolutely vital that the Gunners boost their defensive options ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to Bild, Arsenal have identified Sokratis as the perfect summer signing, with the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat in talks with the Greece international’s agent.

The London outfit are far from the only club interested in the 29-year-old, however, with Manchester United also believed to be closely monitoring proceedings as they prepare their own move.

Would Sokratis be a good signing?

To put it bluntly, Sokratis is everything that Arsenal need in a centre-back. The Greek is not a player that will particularly impress with his ball-playing skills or finesse, but he is a defender in every sense of the word.

[ad_pod ]

Sokratis will see his Dortmund contract expire at the end of next season, and according to Bild, he could be available for £17.5m in this summer’s transfer window.

The defender has featured on 79 occasions for his national team, and all being well, will break the 200-mark in terms of appearances for Dortmund before the end of the campaign.

It is not a surprise that Man United have also been credited with an interest, and it will be up to Arsenal to convince the centre-back to snub a move to Old Trafford.

The Gunners have plenty of talent in the final third of the field, and the arrival of Sokratis this summer would go a long way to solving one of their major problems further back.

Money could be huge problem in Arsenal’s manager hunt

Arsenal are reluctant to pay their new manager the same £8.5m-a-year salary handed to Arsene Wenger, according to the Daily Mail.

What’s the word?

The North London outfit are hunting for a new boss following Wenger’s decision to step down at the end of the season.

Supporters have been pleading for the Frenchman’s departure for some time due to the club’s recent failed Premier League title campaigns.

Now that their wish has been granted, attention has turned to who will take the hotseat at the Emirates.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are not prepared to splash out on a huge salary, which pours significant doubt over the potential arrival of former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who reportedly wants £15m a year.

The publication adds that whoever comes in will have a tight transfer budget of just £50m for the summer window.

[ad_pod ]

Can Arsenal get a high-profile figure without the cash?

Firstly, hiring someone who is currently out of work is arguably Arsenal’s best option with regards to cutting costs.

However, as mentioned, Enrique is believed to be demanding a hefty wage, while Carlo Ancelotti is likely to take the same approach.

If money is an issue, the Premier League giants may have to settle for an inexperienced coach, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira being touted in the rumour mill as potential candidates.

A transitional period is expected when Wenger departs, but it may take even longer for Arsenal to get themselves back on track with an unproven coach at the helm.
