حذر المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي ليفربول، يورجن كلوب، جميع لاعبيه قبل مواجهة اليوم، الأحد، أمام مانشستر سيتي في الجولة الثامنة من بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ويحل ليفربول ضيفًا على ملعب “الاتحاد” في تمام الساعة السادسة والنصف مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة بقيادة الحكم الدولي، كريج باوسون.

وتحدث كلوب عن مباراة مانشستر سيتي في تصريحات لموقع ناديه الرسمي، وقال: “إذا لم تركز بنسبة 100% أمامهم، فستخسر الكثير!، لم أحتاج مباراة الدور الثاني من الموسم الماضي (4-0 للمنافس) كدليل لهذا الأمر لكن هذا هو الحال في جميع المباريات”.

وتابع: “ربما لم أرغب في المبالغة قبل تلك المباراة بعدما نجحنا في حسم اللقب للمرة الأولى، على الرغم من صعوبة المنافس ولا أعلم إذا كنت صائبًا بشأن هذا القرار أم لا”.

وأضاف: “لقد سجل مانشستر سيتي 4 أهداف ولكننا لعبنا بشكل جيد ورغم ذلك لم نسجل، هكذا بدا الأمر للجميع بعد هذه النتيجة لكنها لم تكن أكبر هزيمة في مسيرتي التدريبية”.

وعن انتصاراته أمام بيب جوارديولا: “القدر جعلنا نتواجه كثيرًا في الفترة الماضية، لكنني سعيدًا لأننا لا نلتقي كل مباراة، لأكون صادقًا، بسبب القيمة الفنية التي يمتلكها فريقه، لا اهتم ولست على علم بأي أرقام قياسية لكن أعلم جيدًا أننا لم نخسر كل المباريات ضدهم لكنها كانت صعبة وهذا هو الشيء الوحيد الذي يقلقني وليست الطريقة التي لعبنا بها في المباراة الماضية”.

وأتم تصريحاته: “لذلك يجب علينا أن ننظم أنفسنا بشكل جيد، بشكل أقرب من الكمال، ويجب أن تكون شجاعًا والحفاظ على أسلوبك التدريبي مع فريقك وعلى الرغم من ذلك تظل مباراة صعبة للغاية لأنك دائمًا تحت ضغط هائل، نحن لا ندرس علم الصواريخ لكن تظل مباراة صعبة”.

Tottenham Hotspur’s gameplan against Ajax in their Champions League semi-final did not work.

Spurs lost the first leg 1-0, with Donny van de Beek’s goal proving decisive, and much of the blame for their defeat can be traced back to the system employed by Mauricio Pochettino.

On the chalkboard

With Harry Kane injured and Son Heung-min suspended for the encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs were always going to try to keep it tight and attempt to nick a goal.

However, with Fernando Llorente up front, much of their searching for that strike came about in the form of crosses from both full-backs, Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose.

Though Rose enjoyed a more productive game than Trippier across the board, neither delivered the ball anywhere near well enough throughout the 90 minutes.

And this is emphasised by the fact that, per WhoScored, Juan Foyth, an 80th-minute substitute for Trippier, completed the most accurate crosses of any player on the pitch. The number? Two.

During his time on the pitch, Rose attempted three crosses but only one found its desired target.

Trippier, renowned for his set-piece ability and deliveries from the flank, completed one successful cross from five attempts.

That is scandalously bad from the two England internationals.

Of course, Llorente is not Spurs’ first choice and his immobility and general lack of pace can actively hinder the side as they look to get on the front foot, but sometimes he just needs better service.

If Trippier had been more accurate with his deliveries, Llorente could have caused havoc; the Spaniard scored the decisive goal against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-final second leg after a rare pin-point cross from Trippier.

A change in tack

Pochettino needs to alter the way Spurs set up in Amsterdam.

With his side now chasing the game and looking to score, dropping Llorente altogether would be a smart move.

That he is paying for the sins of both Rose and Trippier may seem harsh but he does not have the speed required to lead counter-attacks, nor is he a composed enough finisher to take a half-chance.

Son can do both, and his inclusion from the start would lighten the creative load currently placed on both full-backs.

Ajax, of course, keep the ball remarkably well but springing at them on the counter seems an effective weapon, particularly if both Son and Lucas Moura are paired together in a pacier front line.

One thing we do know is that crossing the ball simply doesn’t seem to work for Spurs.

To cry or not to cry: Paul Pogba wants out of Manchester United with Real Madrid circling.

Midfield maestro Paul Pogba is looking for a way out of Manchester United this summer and is “very keen” on forcing a move to Real Madrid, as per the Independent.

The World Cup winner has been the centre of just about everything toxic at the club this season, having already successfully mutinied against former manager Jose Mourinho, and sources now say that he is desperate to leave himself.

Perhaps understandably the player is concerned with United’s inability to challenge for the league, which looks a long, long way away considering Manchester City’s and Liverpool’s dominance and the Red Devil’s failure to produce performances anywhere near the necessary level.

One of the reasons he joined back in 2016 is that he felt they could be on the brink of a challenge, and in a way, they were under Mourinho – for a bit anyway. But things have unravelled very, very quickly and the 26-year-old does not want to spend his prime years waiting.

It is said that a bid of over £130million could be enough to tempt United into selling and we are sure, given his recent behaviour, United fans would snap up the opportunity to flog him at that price.

Pogba is a world-class player, yes – only a fool would deny that. But his work ethic stinks. People might defend him for being surrounded by utter tripe, and to some extent that is true – he would look infinitely better surrounded by more capable players. However, it is hard to ignore just how little he is willing to give to the badge when the going gets tough.

Why would anyone want to keep a player who isn’t grateful playing for the biggest club in the world? He is literally laughing at the fans who kiss his boots and defend him.

Time to wave goodbye and feed him to the hostile fans of Real Madrid. There are more fish in the sea, as they say.

كشف كلاوديو برافو، حارس مرمى ريال بيتيس الإسباني، عن حديثه مع مارك تير شتيجن، حارس مرمى برشلونة، في المباراة التي جمعت الفريقين اليوم.

وفاز برشلونة على ريال بيتيس بنتيجة (5-2)، وتحدث برافو في تصريحات عقب المباراة، نشرتها صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية.

وعن استقبال الأهداف، أكمل: “هو أمر بدني للغاية، تحتاج إلى مساعدة إضافية، وتمركز بشكل مثالي وأن كل شيء يعمل جيدًا لتجنب استقبال الأهداف لقد عانينا من ذلك مع البارسا ويساعدنا ذلك على الاستمرار في التحسن”.

Is the Champions League papering over the cracks for Tottenham Hotspur?

It feels like an incredibly unfair question to ask, particularly after their scarcely believable heroics on Wednesday night, yet it is a pertinent one.

Of course, this is a club that will be playing in the final of the biggest competition in European football on June 1. They will take on a Liverpool team boasting the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk. It will be the first all-English final since 2008, when Manchester United and Chelsea locked horns in a rainy Moscow.

This time, they will play in Madrid, fighting for the right to be called European champions. Anything could happen. Spurs could win.

But there is a lingering feeling that this domestic season, when taken in isolation, has been a worry. Spurs have lost 13 games and yet, they sit in the top-four. They have been beaten more times in the Premier League than Wolves. They have drawn once, though, and that perhaps explains the absolute ridiculousness of this Spurs team finding themselves in the top four with only one game to play. If they avoid an eight-goal swing in Arsenal’s favour on the final day, they will qualify for the Champions League via their league position. Even if they don’t, they could qualify by winning the whole thing.

One has to examine the flaws, though. Spurs are in a final, yes, but they have played with Fernando Llorente up front for much of their run. They have been shorn of Harry Kane through injury and have no truly like-for-like replacement. Llorente is a battering ram of a centre-forward; Kane has a great deal more class than the Spaniard.

Dele Alli, reborn against Ajax, turning in a performance of maturity and elegance, has a ridiculous workload because there is no alternative in the squad; the same is true of Christian Eriksen.

This is a squad that has been stretched to its absolute limit. The midfield options at one point, due to both injury and general misfortune, were 18-year-old Oliver Skipp and Moussa Sissoko. That was it.

It must be said that Mauricio Pochettino has worked miracles with this squad. He has silenced the doubters and proven the devotees right. He hasn’t won a trophy yet; his first could be the Champions League.

And yet we cannot look past the holes. Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier both need upgrading. Ben Davies probably isn’t good enough. Nor is Eric Dier, or Erik Lamela, or, actually, Llorente.

This patched-up band of brothers have done more than anyone could have expected of them but sentiment can’t cloud the judgement of chairman Daniel Levy.

An overhaul of this squad is needed and is long overdue. Spurs haven’t signed a player since January of 2018, when Lucas Moura, the hat-trick hero on Wednesday, waltzed through the doors at Hotspur Way. He is now a legend.

But money has to be spent. This is a club that has reached the Champions League final; it is an attractive proposition for any player looking to further their career.

Has this team done more than anyone would have expected? Absolutely, they have. But, still, Levy needs to back Pochettino this summer.

New blood is needed and we are past the point of Spurs recruiting promising talent. Genuine winners are needed if they are to take the next step: winning the Premier League.

It won’t be easy. It will be expensive. But this Champions League run has only served to strengthen the argument. Pochettino, after all, has done this in spite of the club’s lack of investment, not because of it.

ويتواجد تيليس حاليًا في معسكر منتخب البرازيل خلال فترة التوقف الدولي، للمشاركة في تصفيات قارة أمريكا الجنوبية المؤهلة لبطولة كأس العالم في قطر 2022.

وأوضحت أن تيليس حصل على الضوء الأخضر للمشاركة مع منتخب البرازيل في المباراة المرتقبة صباح الأربعاء القادم أمام منتخب أوروجواي، في الجولة الرابعة من التصفيات.

وأشارت إلى أن الاختبار الأخير كان مهمًا للغاية، حيث لا تسمح أوروجواي بدخول أي شخص جاءت نتيجة فحصه إيجابية.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with Swansea for the services of Dan James, in a transfer worth £15m.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye in what has been his first full season in the Swans’ first-team, after spending last term in the youth ranks whilst making sporadic cup appearances for the senior side.

James scored on his debut for Wales earlier this year under former United legend Ryan Giggs’ tutelage, and came close to moving to Leeds in January until Swansea pulled the plug on the deal – he has hit five goals and recorded 10 assists in the current campaign.

At £15m it wouldn’t represent too big of a gamble, and it could see a major shift in transfer policy but United have ambitions of winning the league and achieving big things in Europe. Signing James would not help them do that whatsoever. When they signed another promising Championship winger in Wilfried Zaha a while back it didn’t go well. As a result, the club need to learn from previous failings.”

“James is a smart signing for United. They have a ridiculous transfer budget and can afford a £15m wonderkid, and that’s what he is. He ripped Manchester City to shreds in the FA Cup and is perhaps the best player in the Championship. One feels, however, that Swansea should be asking for a little bit more if there is such genuine interest from United. Ed Woodward, after all, is not the shrewdest negotiator – adding another £10m to the price tag is unlikely to see him bat an eyelid.”

وينتهي عقد ألابا مع بايرن ميونخ بنهاية الموسم الحالي في يونيو 2021، وكانت هناك رغبة من طرف النادي الألماني بتجديده قبل سحب العرض رسميًا بحسب تصريحات رئيس البافاري، هربرت هاينر.

كما أكد حسن صالح حميديتش المدير الرياضي للنادي البافاري عدم استئناف المفاوضات مرة أخرى مع ألابا لتجديد عقده، بعد سحب العرض من قبل إدارة النادي، مشيرًا إلى أن رحيله بات أمرًا واقعًا (طالع ماذا قال؟).

وليس سرًا أنّ ريال مدريد يريد التعاقد مع ألابا، حيث يرغب اللوس بلانكوس في ضمه، في ظل قدرته على اللعب في مركز الظهير الأيسر وقلب الدفاع.

ألابا يستطيع اعتبارًا من الأول من يناير 2021، التفاوض مع أي نادٍ، لضمه في صيف العام القادم.

وبحسب الصحيفة أنّ ريال مدريد ينتظر حتى يحين الوقت الذي يسمح لهم في التحدث مع ألابا مباشرةٍ، من أجل تفادي ارتكاب أي مخالفة رياضية.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أنّ العلاقة الرائعة بين إدارة بايرن ميونخ وريال مدريد، بعد انتقال لاعبين من الجانبين خلال الفترة الماضية، هي سبب تمهل الملكي.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أنّ رغبة ألابا هي اللعب لـ ريال مدريد، مُشيرة إلى أنّ الملكي ربما لا يُرضي مطالبه المادية.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been linked with a move to PSG, per AS.

The France international, who won the World Cup in Russia last summer, has captained the club to the Champions League final this season, where they will play Liverpool on June 1.

PSG, the report claims, see the 6 ft 2 star as a more attainable target than both David De Gea, of Manchester United, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, of AC Milan.

But should Spurs look to cash in on the 32-year-old, who is seemingly on the decline and has made a number of mistakes in the top-flight this season?

“I think they should, but it depends on a few things. Firstly, the price that PSG are willing to offer. If it is a massive fee that would significantly boost Tottenham’s transfer budget, they must go for it in an instant. He is more replaceable now than he has been in the past with errors becoming more and more prevalent in his game, so a lucrative sale makes sense. However, Spurs would need to sign a replacement for the Frenchman, as I don’t feel that Paulo Gazzaniga is good enough to step up and be the regular number one.”

“After this season I think his days at Spurs should definitely be numbered. Despite manager Mauricio Pochettino calling him world class on numerous occasions the club simply have to cash in. The Frenchman hasn’t been good enough and if Tottenham are serious about challenging for a title then they need a ‘keeper who is going to win them points, rather than throw them away. We’ve seen the value of Ederson and Alisson this season so it’s now time for Spurs to follow suit by binning Lloris and bringing in a genuinely world-class replacement.”

“I think Tottenham should be grateful to Hugo Lloris for basically making their season what it has become, with two vital penalty saves from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sergio Aguero earning a top-four place and the chance to progress into the Champions League final.
